2022 Airstream Basecamp 20X - X-Package, Victron Lithium Off-Grid Build, New A/C, Ready On or Off Grid
This 2022 Basecamp 20X is Airstream's go-anywhere trailer with the X-Package, built out by its current owner into a genuine off-grid rig for two. The X-Package brings a 3-inch lift, Goodyear all-terrain tires on black shadow wheels, stainless steel rock guards, and solar front window protection -- and at 20 feet 2 inches and 4,300 lbs GVWR on a single axle, it tows behind a properly equipped mid-size truck or SUV.
The electrical system is the headline: a Victron MultiPlus-II 12/3000 inverter, Victron Cerbo GX with 5-inch touchscreen display, Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/30 controller, Victron battery monitoring shunt, and a Big Beard 300 amp-hour lithium battery -- with cables already made up for a second battery if you want to double the bank. The factory Basecamp solar is installed and the system has capacity for additional panels, and a Weboost cell booster keeps you connected where coverage gets thin.
Inside, the dinette has been removed in favor of two RV recliners, and the bed carries a custom 8-inch Basecamp mattress with cover and sheets -- a permanent, comfortable setup for two instead of a nightly conversion. The galley runs a two-burner cooktop, microwave, and 12-volt-capable refrigerator, and the wet bath has a shower, toilet, and sink. A 16,000 BTU furnace and a Coleman-Mach 13,500 BTU air conditioner -- replaced new by the dealership in 2024 -- handle the climate.
Towing tech is already sorted for a GM truck: a GMC-compatible rear trailer camera is mounted and GMC TPMS sensors are installed on all tires, so the trailer shows up on the truck's own display.
It comes with the full kit to hook up and go: a Hughes 30-amp Autoformer shore power booster, Hughes Bulldog surge protector, all needed electrical cables, an Overland Vehicle Systems awning, an 11 x 8 ft ground cover, potable and black water lines, waste hoses, four wheel chocks, and a leveling block kit.
